Excursion day

As part of the FLoC conference, we will offer an excursion day (with an additional fee).

You will be able to choose* a tour route out of 3 different routes:

Tour 1 - North of Israel - Acre, Rosh Hanikra & the Monfort (estimated 8:00-18:30)
Tour 2 - Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee (estimated 8:00-18:30)

Tour 3 - Jerusalem (estimated 8:00-19:30)

*Please note that the participants' capacity in each route was limited. Only participants that bought a ticket in advance, are allowed to participate. please come with your tag and excursion voucher.
 

* VERY IMPORTANT - The excursion day falls on Sabbath - so expect most of the shops and restaurants to be closed. also on that Saturday evening will start a Jewish fast (called Tishaa' Be'Av) so also on Saturday evening all the restaurants at the city will be closed.

 


After lunch, we will drive to the Cliff of Rosh Hanikra, a nice natural cliff with grottos on the sea, exactly on the border between Israel and Lebanon. Then, we will continue to the Montfort viewpoint to look upon the Teutonic Knights' Treasury fortress in the Crusader times.

Tour 1 - Tour of the Ancient City of Acre , Rosh Hanikra Groto’s and MontFort Crusader Fortress

 

Akko (Acre) represents tumultuous the history of the Land of Israel possibly better than any other city in the country. Akko is a city that has been shaped by the Romans, Ottomans, Crusaders, Mamelukes, Byzantines, and British. Today it is home to a brilliantly coexistent mixed population of Jews, Christians and Muslims. The Old City of Akko is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest ports in the world. The city is also home to part of the Bahai World Center

On this tour we will visit the Western Shore and Mountains of the Upper Galilee.
We will start our tour in Acre (Akko), Walking on the Turkish Walls of the City and learn about how Acre stood against Napoleon. 
We will continue to the ancient Acre port and visit The Knights’ Halls in Acre - The Hospitaller Fortress – an almost complete remain of the Crusader Hospitaler quarter and the amazing Templar Knights escape Tunnel.

Later in the day we will have a lunch break at an oriental restaurant.

Tour 2 - Tour to Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee

 

On this day tour, we will visit Lower Galilee and the Sea of Galilee.
This is the area where Jesus grew up and started his prophecies.
In the city of Nazareth, we will visit the Church of Annunciation, have a short tour of the old city of Nazareth, going through the oriental market to the Orthodox Church of Annunciation and the Well of Mary.

We will have lunch in an Oriental restaurant serving various meal options, one of the optional dishes is ST. Peter fish.

After lunch we will visit the Church of Fish and Loaves and Capernaum.

In Capernaum we will visit the ancient Synagogue and see the remains of houses and maybe a church from the time of Jesus .We will also be able to be on the shores of the Sea of Galilee .

Tour 3 - Tour to the mysteries of the Holy City of Jerusalem

 

The old city of Jerusalem hides behind its walls 3000 years of history.

Every corner, every street, every church, mosque, or synagogue, curates fascinating stories and ancient legends.

This is a sacred place for millions of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. This fact makes Jerusalem one of the most important, interesting, and yes, also one of the most flammable places in the world.

 

In our tour we will visit the four quarters of the old city including sites holy to Jews, Muslims, and Christians: the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Via Dolorosa – the way of suffering, The Western Wall (also known as the Wailing Wall) and more.

We will have lunch in an Oriental restaurant serving various meal options
